Jim Riggleman & Pat Listach to the Nationals Coaching Staff

Iowa Cubs manager Pat Listach, who apparently has future big league manager potential (he was rated as the best manager prospect in 2008 in the PCL by Baseball America) will be the new third base coach for the Nats.

 

Former Cubs manager Jim Riggleman will be the new Nats bench coach.

Good for Listach.

 

I know this is anecdotal and that a lot of the players moved up and/or down, but I could see a noticeable difference in the Smokies from the previous years to last year in terms of being ready to play.

Maybe, although Ryne Sandberg's a good draw for the Chiefs in Peoria. I don't know how much good it would do him to move up another level to Daytona since he's still a bit wet behind the ears in terms of managing.

I think Listach could have been a good choice for Brewers manager. I dont think they're the type of team that a vertaran manager will be able to do much. They're still a yound team that could benefit from a young manager.

So happy for Pat and his family as I didn't see him getting much of a shot with the Cubs.........
