Playoff roster?

The Cubs' playoff roster will be officially announced Wednesday, but the team was expected to keep outfielder Felix Pie on the roster. Pitchers Kevin Hart and Michael Wuertz, outfielder Micah Hoffpauir and catcher Koyie Hill were to go to Mesa, Ariz., to workout at the Cubs' facility as sort of a taxi squad in case they're needed. Infielder Casey McGehee and pitchers Chad Gaudin and Angel Guzman were expected to be sent home.

Wow, no working out for Gaudin or Gooz at all? Come on.

Wow, they're just completely writing off Gaudin and Guzman? That seems surprising they weren't at least among the "taxi squad" members. Glad it sounds like Pie makes the roster. I knew Ward would make it, but I'd prefer Hoffpauir (also obviously anybody -- DOA -- over Howry).

Guz just came off Tommy John, and Gaudin probably is not physically 100% from his injury and they probably determined he won't be able to pitch effectively this postseason.

Gooz, I can almost understand. Straight off of TJ, they probably dont want to push their luck. As for Gaudin, all I can think of is that his back injury is still bothering him, and more of a problem than he let on. Bob Howry indeed.
