Survival football is dicey this week. a lot of trap games in there.

Buffalo over St. Louis

San Diego over Oakland

Denver over Kansas City

Those three all look pretty safe to me.

I'd say Jacksonville at Houston to...I know Jacksonville hasn't been what we thought they'd be, but Houston's offense is just abysmal

Houston has the potential to be pretty solid offensively though.

Schaub's a good QB and he has an elite weapon in Andre Johnson. I was also impressed with Steve Slaton.

Schaub struggles with staying composed in a pass rush, though, and that will ultimately be the Texans' downfall Sunday.

St. Louis, Oakland and KC are just downright bad, though.

Agreed...And Jacksonville has one of the best so for at least another week that Texans offense is going to struggle still

Slaton could have a big day against Jacksonville's pass rush. The Jags aren't the fastest defense out there, and if Slaton has a big day the Texans could threaten for a win.

He could, but personally I'm still not convinced he'll be that good. I really didn't even think he'd be playing I thought id be Garrett Wolfe esque . He's a little guy and played in a system with a great QB. Who knows though he could be legit and he'll run all over the Jag's D like you said

116 yards and a touchdown against a faster Titan defense bodes well for him.

I was a bit skeptical myself, but he looked good against the Titans. I don't think he'll be a star, but he's got a shot at being a fast, complement back.

Yeah Agreed and probably true

I went with "Whichever team is playing St. Louis" for the 3rd straight week. At some point, i need to go another direction though. St. Louis is horrible, but they aren't going 0-16

no way... jacksonville always loses to houston for some reason.

also, denver has always had a hard time winning at kansas city, buffalo needed a last-second field goal to beat oakland at home last week, and san diego is still, as far as i can tell, coached by norv turner.

i went with carolina over atlanta.

Betting on Carolina in a survival league is never a strong plan because they are completely capable of being blown out by anyone in the league...but I hope you're right.

I see all your points, but I wouldn't consider Carolina a lock over Atlanta

this was my dilemma as well. All the "lock" games had the better team on the road, which smells like a trap to me

I went with OMC's Saints over San Fran this week.

The Saints are at home and are more talented than the 49ers. I'm debating switching to a Norv Turner coached team on the road, though. That shows how few lopsided matchups there are this week.

cowboys hosting the redskins is another possibility - i believe that's the widest point spread this week. but the skins tend to play the cowboys tough, and i could see the cowboys having a letdown after two big, tough games.

I would never, ever go with a Cowboys/Redskins game in survival football.

Dallas may win by 50, but there's far too great a chance that Washington pulls out a win.

Jason Taylor is out for this game and possibly for the season. The Redskins starting RT is also questionable, and his backup is Jon Jansen. Jansen is a good run blocker but his pass protection sucks. Clinton Portis is banged up too. Meanwhile the Cowboys pass rush will be getting an added boost this week because Anthony Spencer will be playing for the first time this season. The Cowboys are also missing Roy Williams, who the Redskins target for big plays. In his absence, Anthony Henry has shifted back to playing S so our deep coverage is much better right now. This will also be the last Boys-Skins game in Texas Stadium so the Cowboys will be ready to go, this game won't even be close.

The Redskins always play everyone in the division tough and there D is solid so there's always a potential of a game between those too. I wouldn't pick them either

The guy who was supposed to go with me to the Cowboys game had to back out because he has a kidney stone (better him than me), but now I'm trying to find someone to go to the game with me.

What really sucks about it is this guy who was going with me taught Bradie James in 8th grade, so we were going to get to meet Bradie after the game.

Top stories of week 4:

Skins top Dallas in a stunner. Romo fumbles 3 times and gets verbally assaulted by TO on the sidelines. Media circus ensues.

Philip Rivers continues his MVP quest by throwing for 3 TDs and 320 yards. Teammates carry him off the field on their shoulders. ESPN spins game highlights into a negative piece about how immature Rivers is for interacting with fans. Analysts agree wholeheartedly.

Trent Green suffers concussion. Vows comeback for 2009.

The Packers don't look very good.A 5 point win in GB over the vikings and a game where they were losing to detroit in the 4th quarter support that. The NFC North just sucks, I guess

Should've been a pick by Collins, possibly even a pick 6. Instead he drops it, Tampa picks up a first down on 4th and 1 and they're probably going to go up by 10 at half.

Very sloppy game on our end.
