I personally think the Cubs will exercise Blanco's option if he decides to come back. He's a "veteran" who is having a good year heading into his option/buyout. I think the Cubs will see it as the safe option to bring him back for one more year.

I'm hoping Hank retires.

Why? He's a backup catcher...what's wrong with him in that role?

Because he's ancient, isn't likely to replicate his #s from this year, and will cost too much.

The bolded is the only problem I have with Blanco coming back next year. We're not going to do much better than a good defensive catcher who is moderately capable offensively. How many backup catchers are actually good offensively anyway?

Not sure what his option is for next year, but that's what worries me about him.
