Does anyone have any idea how to get tickets to these things? HR Derby? Actual Game? I'm here in St. Louis and would be very interested in taking my family...are there any "public" tickets or are they all through brokers/sponsers?

I'm not planning on coming down for the ASG itself, but do think I'm going to catch the Futures game on Sunday. Here's the official 2009 ASG site

Nothing up about tickets yet - just that MLB will be posting later. On the other hand, they're already selling 3 pages worth of different merch. Go figure.

You pretty much have to know someone, from what I've been told. They aren't going to release them to the general public. At least not for the game itself. Not sure about the other events.

As an aside, it's nice to see they're finally doing something with the Ballpark Village area. Finally.

You'll be able to get Future's game tickets in all liklihood, but All-Star Game and HR Derby tickets will be hard to come by. My guess is what is available to the general public will be offered to Cardinal season ticket holders first, leaving very little. Usually, they do a lottery style sign up for the few remaining and SRO tickets.

I went to the ASG in Houston in 2004. I was able to get tickets by buying a 27 game mini plan. I then sold off the mini plan...I lost some money on the tickets, but I still did ok considering I ended up with tickets to the ASG and HR derby at face. As far as price, we were way up high in MMP, and our tickets were still like $75 face value. People were selling tickets to the game for $500 or more.

Yeah...I just looked out the window and noticed there was some movement......too bad they waited too long to start it...they really dropped the ball (so to speak). Because of all their delay they lost Centene and it looks like several other very large businesses are moving from downtown STL to Clayton...the City had a real opportunity to make downtown something pretty cool again but jacked around too long and now the opportunity is gone....oh well...at least they got their applebee's or whatever it was they wanted close to the park.

Just for fun, I went to Yankees.com the Sunday before the Home Run Derby and was able to pull up individual tickets to the HR Derby. They were like $350 though.

For the all star events in Detroit they had a raffle type thing where you give them your e-mail and they let you know if you are selected to purchase tickets. I was selected to buy tickets for the HRD, but it was like the day before the actual derby and the seats were way up in the upper deck on the third base side. I don't remember how much they were charging, I remember it was too much to be worth it though.

I'm glad I didn't go, Detroit got the shaft when they tried that world format for the HRD. Who wants to see Hee Seop Choi try and hit HRs out just because he's Korean?

I honestly think the HR Derby seems like one of those things that you think is going to be cooler than it actually is.

They don't sell out the Sunday stuff, do they? I'm hoping to see the Futures game.

They didn't a few years back when I went in Milwaukee. I walked up morning of the Future's Game and was able to get 2 very good tickets.

No. And it sucked for me when I had tickets in Houston because I had to buy the same seats for ASG, HR derby, and Futures game. People bought walk-up seats better than what I had for the Futures Game.

But, that event you shouldn't have any trouble getting tickets.
