The more Woods return gets pushed back the more I think Hendry needs to agressively persue a reliever. Marmols a good choice for closer, but then who sets up? Sharks looked good so far, but how much faith do you want to put in a guy whose had 4 major league innings in his career? We cant trust Howry, Lou doesnt trust Eyre or Lieber. That leaves Gaudin, Cotts, Marshall, Shark, and Marmol, which isnt bad, but we need one more guy who can be relied upon.

I say no, but I still hope they are able to land Fuentes.

The Rockies have decided they're back in the race and pulled Fuentes and Holliday off the trading block. They're 6 games back in the sorriest division in the league, so I dont blame them. They might even become buyers.

Ron Mahay from the Royals.

If a trade is made (which I wouldn't be shocked if Hendry pulled one off), it'll be for Mahay.

EDIT: Dang, nevermind. Just saw the thread in Transactions about Mahay to the Phillies being close.

Well played, my friend. Stark has apparently retracted his "Mahay to Philly close" story. Now the deal isn't close.

Jayson Stark said the reports of Fuentes being unavailable were premature. The Rockies are still listening to offers but aren't sure whether or not they'll trade him. If the scored hold up tonight they'll be 7 back of both L.A. and Arizona. I bet they'll trade him, but not to the Cubs.

Maybe they'll take Eyre or Cotts as part of the deal, that way they can say they're still in it even if they really aren't.
