• Now that Jeff Samardzija looks as if he can be to the Cubs what K-Rod was to the 2002 Angels and what Joba Chamberlain was to the Yankees last year, the Cubs are no longer shopping for arms of any kind. According to clubs that have spoken with them, the only commodity the Cubs are still asking about is left-handed-hitting center fielders. But that's a need they're more likely to fill in the offseason than in the next three days.

i don't know why they choose joba as a comparison when jenks is probably a better comparison, considering like the angels in '02, the white sox won in '05

actually nevermind, i do know why they choose joba to compare, its espn.

Buster Olney said on "Mike and Mike" this morning the reason for the Joba's comparasion, is simply because of the electricity that each pitcher (Shark/Joba) brought to their resepctive teams.

In all fairness to Jenks he too brought a lot of electricity to the team with that 100mph heater.

Eyre to the Rays for Gabe Gross? Maybe have the Cubs pick up a few hundred thousand of Eyre's salary and have the Rays add in a Low-A arm strength guy to even things up a bit.

If Gross can still play an acceptable CF, that is.

Then put Jimmy on the DL and let him get his knees and feet healed up for the September run.

True, but I was going by what Buster was throwing out there. I think Shark/Joba is a pretty good comparasion. As a starter Shark doesn't have that upside as Joba, but as a reliever his upside could be very high. But I suspect that given his contract Shark will be given a chance to battle for a starting rotation spot next yr.

Why don't we just call McClouth up. He has proved he is ready.

Agreed. We should send down Eyre and throw in the extra cash.

This, please.
