Full video of the incident here if the only clip you've ever seen in the famous one of Brett running out of the dugout:

mike & mike were talking about it this morning. they said that when brett got his bat back, he actually used it for a couple games. but then gaylord perry (i think) told brett that he should sell that bat before he breaks it and it loses all value. so brett ended up selling the bat to a fan for $25k. then a few days later, brett felt bad that he charged the fan that much for a bat, so he gave him back the $25k and donated the bat to the hall of fame.

That goes down as one of the biggest pieces of ass-hattery by any manager ever

Seemed like a smart move to me.

Apparently they knew about it all along but waited to spring the complaint for the perfect moment when it would hurt the most.

Is it smart from a competitive standpoint? Sure. Is it ass-hattery? Yep, that too.

GB's explosion remains one of the most entertaining blow-outs in the history of sports. I've probably seen it 100 times, it never gets old.

Peter Gammons explaination of why the rule ever took place was pretty funny.

recap of this would be appreciated.

The old Twins owner was tired of pine tar ruining batting practice balls as it had cost him $500, so he was the one who put the rule in play.
