No Vitters or Flaherty for Boise tonight.

Has anyone figured out why Flaherty hasn't played lately?

Hand injury...may be done for awhile...

Ughh. Didn't think it'd be serious if the local papers hadn't picked up on it. That sucks.

Might also explain the lack of power he had shown thus far in XBH-friendly Boise.

That's not necessarily confirmed by any type of medical professional (I was told that X-Rays were negative), but Raisin, you know I've got an "inside source"..... :D

Heh.

Well the poster dlocks said it was a hand injury in today's game thread so unless he/she has inside sources too, it looks like some news of it has made it to the media.

Eh, what can I say. I guess i'm just such a "reliable source" lol..... not.

Well I'm sorry...I haven't read today's game thread yet. It's been bothering him since he started playing in Boise. I just didn't want to dampen the spirits of all you guys for the first round draft pick.

In other news, Jose Ceda continues to completely dominate AA. Any chance we see him BEFORE september? Am I the only one excited about him as a future set-up man/closer?

Look for him at a Wrigley Field near you in September.

Phil Rogers and Gordon Wittenmeyer suggested his call-up could be sooner, rather than later. Any truth to their intimations?

Bruce is on the same page:

Bruce Miles | Daily Herald Blog[/url]"]So who would come up? How about Jeff Samardzija. Assistant GM Randy Bush said that's "conceivable" and that Samardzija has pitched himself into the picture at Iowa. The Cubs would use Samardzija out of the pen, but not as closer. Those duties would fall to Carlos Marmol. If nothing else, Samardzija would give Lou the "power arm" he likes coming out of the pen. The Cubs brass likes the progress the former Notre Dame football star has made in becoming a pitcher and not just a thrower. Samardzija has watched film of himself and other pitchers to help him with mechanics and how to hide the ball better.

I'm glad I read this thread again, because the first time I saw it I thought you guys said that Flaherty had a "head" injury, which seemed more important.
