I am ok with it. Bush pitches well at home 4-2 with a era of 2.49and on the road 1-6 with a era of 6.95 and mcclung 1-1 with a 3.48 era on the road and at home 4-4 with a era of 4.95 at home.

So you think those guys suddenly become completely different pitchers when they're at home or on the road? It's kind of like starting a guy on Mondays and Fridays because those are the 2 days of the week he has the best career numbers on.

Well, home stats are meaningful because it makes logical sense that some pitchers perform better in one ballpark than in others. For Bush, that ballpark is his home park.

Makes sense for pitchers, but I always wonder why it seems to be true for a lot of hitters, too.

Yost finally puts an end to the fifth starter platoon.

Link.

The Brewers ended a two-week road-home platoon with their fifth starter and announced Saturday that right-hander Dave Bush will start against the Reds on Tuesday, bumping Seth McClung out of the rotation.

"I told them both I wanted to try this and if it wasn't good for either one of them that I would have to make a decision, so that's what we did," manager Ned Yost said. "It was kind of getting to both of them a little bit. I just think that it's better to do it this way."

Damn. I was hoping this idiotic idea would continue a little longer.

It's true for hitters as well because hitting and pitching stats are basically the same thing, just on different sides of the tug-o-war.

Consider a theoretical case of a pitcher who routinely gives up 330 ft. fly balls to LF. He would be great at Wrigley but horrible at Fenway. On the opposite end of the spectrum, consider a hitter who routinely hits 330ft. fly balls to LF. He would suck at Wrigley but be great at Fenway.

My point is that home stats are meaningful for a pitcher because the ballpark is a constant in home splits. However, road stats don't tell you much because it gathers together all 15 different road ballparks to form the split.
