I'm confused. Wasn't Rundle just promoted from Peoria to Daytona?

Yeah, just for a few days. He was up in Daytona to fill a spot while Ryan Harvey was on the DL. Before that, he was promoted to Peoria because they needed a lefthanded hitting OF. Now that both those situations have been fixed, he's back in Boise.

The corresponding move: OF Ryan Harvey off the Daytona 7-day DL.

On Dwayne Kemp:

Idaho Statesman[/url]"]The 5-foot-8, 160-pound Kemp grew up playing baseball in Rotterdam, Netherlands. His parents are originally from Aruba. His father, Adones, played for the Netherlands baseball team in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

"Soccer is bigger, but baseball is so-so there," Kemp said. "We have the best team in Europe, so that's one good thing."

Kemp said the Netherlands' appearance in the 2006 World Baseball Classic and the Olympics have helped increase the sport's popularity in his country.

Kemp did not play in the World Baseball Classic and found out Sunday he will not be a member of the Netherlands' team for the upcoming Olympics in Beijing, China.

Instead, Kemp will be trying to become the eighth player born in the Netherlands to play in the major leagues.

Kemp was spotted during a European baseball tournament in Italy in 2007. He signed in October and worked out during spring training and with the Cubs' Rookie League team in Mesa, Ariz.

"He showed some qualities that we're looking for: some guys that can run, swing the bat a little bit, profile the middle infield positions and he caught their eye and they signed him. No different than any other player," Fleita said. "It's just a little different when you're working internationally because you don't have to wait for the draft. . When you're internationally working and you see them and like them, you sign them. We're going to continue to be as aggressive as we can to bring those type of guys into the organization."

Odd, I only count six so far:

Blyleven (duh!), Remmerswaal (Red Sox), Eenhoorn (Yankees), Faneyte (Giants), Milliard (Marlins), van den Hurk (Marlins)

John Houseman

John Otten

Both played sparingly in the 19th century, probably why you didn't know them. That link didn't mention Milliard but he would have to be there to add up to 8!

Harrison walked, Macias flew out, Vitters hit a double (single with Harrison going to 3rd, so Vitters ran to 2nd thinking the throw was going to go to 3rd, but it went to 2nd and he still beat it out because the CF double clutched his throw). Keedy hits a ball off the pitcher's (Christian Freidrich,sp?) leg that had some wicked spin and got past the first baseman once it hit the ground.

Boise up 1-0 with Vitters at 3rd, Keedy at 1st, Marwin Gonzalez up.

Gonzalez grounds into a DP.

I'd say the odds are pretty damn good that BA ranks Vitters our #1 prospect going into next season.

Definitely. He could be a little more patient, but it's hard to dislike much about his game right now besides his defense.

Burke pops out. Brenly singles up the middle.

He scores on Drew Rundle's RBI triple. Kemp K's. Rundle scores on a wild pitch/passed ball with Harrison up. 3-2 Boise.

Harrison flies out to the wall in LF. End of 2. Boise up 3-2.

Macias walks. Vitters singles on a line drive back up the middle. He is 2-2 with a double and single.

2 on for Keedy. *Some guy talking in the background must be checking the All-star game on his phone..."M. Holliday hit a HR for the NL...Mike Holliday or M. Holliday..."

Keedy GIDP. Macias to 3rd. Gonzalez up. Grounds out to SS.

Not to jinx him but Josh has 4 errors at Boise and hasn't committed an error in July (I apologize in advance for the multiple errors he is bound to commit tonight because of me).

And a single for Vitters now. 2 for 2 on the night!

Rundle Homers to RF. 5-2 Boise. Rundle is 2-2 with a HR and triple. Welcome back Drew.

Kemp K's again. Mighty might looking a little overmatched early on. However he IS facing a 1st round pick I believe.

Harrison bunts for a hit. It was hit real hard to the 3rd baseman, but he beat it out. I'm starting to like this guy...he walked, he bunt for a hit, and he almost took one out to LF against a highly regarded pitcher.

As I say that, Harrison gets picked off 1st.

That'd be fantastic if Drew Rundle put together a good season after a disappointing last year and a half. He hit a HR a week or so ago for Peoria too.

Mike Brenly is putting on a show for his dad!

Rundle is still only 20. With his two hits tonight he's 10-34 on the season with 3 doubles, a triple and 2 HRs. Avg over .290 as of right now.

The announcer (and some guy he's talking to) think very highly of Burke's defense in RF.

Rundle - it's only 34 AB so a 2 XBH game really make his line look great at Boise. Anyways, his slashes are .294/.368/.618/.986. Boy was he brutal in Peoria...

Burke has good range and a cannon for an arm. Sadly the offense has stalled. He can hit 95 mph on the mound though... (Sounds like Harvey and Nelson Perez, eh? Better approach at the plate than the anti-BB Harvey and Perez.)

Chicago (NL): 3B Josh Vitters.

Vitters is starting to hit as projected, though a case can be made for RHP Jose Ceda.

Not surprising coming from Callis. He's infatuated with Ceda. I bet BA goes 1. Vitters, 2. Ceda, 3. Cashner (unless Samardzija keeps this up for the rest of the season). Not great when 2 of your top 3 prospects are projected big league relievers.

Brenly guns down a SB attempt, perfect throw, he's really puttin on a show for papa tonight.

Vitters makes a nice play to his right, Keedy with a nice pick.
