Ben Sheets-S-Brewers Jul. 14 - 9:45 am et

According to MLB.com, Ben Sheets is expected to start for the NL in the All-Star game.

He'd be the first Brewers pitcher ever to receive that honor and finished the first half at 10-3 with a 2.85 ERA and 108/28 K/BB ratio in 123 innings. Tim Lincecum, Edinson Volquez and Brandon Webb were said to be out of the running to start after pitching over the weekend.

Dude, don't steal my thunder.

Reds manager Dusty Baker spoke on the telephone with Hurdle after Volquez threw 114 pitches against the Brewers on Saturday, and it was decided that someone else would start.

Meh Sabathia threw 122 yesterday

That just means that Sheets should throw 130 just to show up the new guy. Heck, make it 150.

the brewers probably don't care now about long term effects of high pitch counts for sheets and sabathia, given that they most likely won't re-sign either one at the end of the year....if both of those guys make it through the rest of the season without DL stints, i'll be amazed.

You'd think they'd pay attention to how much Sabathia wore down last year in the playoffs.

I would much rather have Z start. Not because I'm a Cubs fan but because if they are going to have this determine home field advantage than I want pitchers and catchers from the same teams playing at the same time when possible. Soto is starting so I want Z to throw those two innings and then Dempster for the last one Soto plays.

So you'll be in favor of Sheets and Kendall?
