jacque jones (or whoever j. jones is) is 3-5 with a double and is hitting .421 for arizona. cerda is catching and has gone 2-4 with a double, BB and K. he's also picked off a runner at first, apparently. Not Neifi Perez is 2-4 with 2 triples... the 11 XBHs in 13 games are sexy, though the zero walks are not. finally, some guy named hoorelbeke has doubled and homered, and is hitting .412. also, a J Pena pitched 4 shutout innings, striking out 4, and has a 0.54 ERA.

You are banned for one week for not knowing Jericho Jones.

And another week for thinking Jocck was back with the Cubs but playing in rookie ball.

Felix is 2/3 in game 2. Samardzija has been solid thus far: 5 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K, 7 GO-2 FO.

Ryan Flaherty back in Boise's lineup.

any reason why Vitters isn't at Peoria with Ridling and Co.

Peoria still has a good 3B prospect (Jovan Rosa) and they probably don't mess with him while he's doing well. He's only had ~75 AB in Boise and he's young for his age in the NWL, so I don't see the need to rush him.

Dubois just hit his 3rd HR of the game.

Wow; hopefully this is a sign of progress and not one fluke start.

Vitters went yard in the first...2-run HR.

ETA: Damn you, TT.

ETA Part 2: Matt Craig just hit a solo HR. The I-Cubs are doing their darndest to get Dubois a 4th AB.

Samardzija: 6 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K, 8 GO-3 FO. Only 81 pitches, so he'll head out there and try the 7-inning CG.

Damn, 1-out solo HR on a bad changeup by Samardzija in the bottom of the 7th.

Jeff gets the final 2 outs for the CG, but gives up the 2 solo HRs to continue to jack up his HR/9.

7 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 7 K, 2 HR, 10 GO-4 FO.

96 pitches - 63 strikes.

Well, wore down a little bit at the end there, but still a very encouraging outing for Samardzija. He had his sinker working once again for most of the night and didn't walk anybody.

Samardzija confuses me. Some days his numbers are horrific and worse than even the most mediocre prospects in this system. Other days, he puts up lines like that.

If I'd never read a scouting report on him, he wouldn't come close to touching my Top 10 list.

Colvin finishes 2/5 with the triple in Tennessee's 9-3 win.

Peoria won 5-1. Kreier only gave up 1 in 5 coming off the back injury.

His offspeed pitch (splitter, I believe) was "outstanding" today.

And he doesn't seem to get hurt by promotion. If anything, the better defense at the next level helps him.

His strikeout rate is also slowly rising as he goes along, but so is his HR rate.

I have no idea what to make of him. I have to think he'll make a decent major league reliever at some point with the way he's been going. Beyond that and at what point he could come up, I have absolutely no clue. I think he could end up a starter, but he continues to send such mixed signals. Some days he has the sinker working. At other times he has great control. Others his strikeout rate is up. Rarely do you see it in the same game like he did tonight, and rarely is it the same from start to start.

He's being rushed and is showing his rawness as of now. I think his K numbers are a direct indication of his out pitch (slider last year, splitter this year). And don't forget he didn't throw that slider in games until this season. It'd be fantastic if he could stay at AAA all this season at least half of next season.
