It's not about turning towards second or moving into fair territory. The call was right because Marquis made a slight move towards second (while he was looking into foul territory). He never actually turned towards second and tried to run, but that doesn't matter.

Agreed, I really don't mind the call. Marquis took a step towards second and that's all that's necessary.

Jason Marquis is going to become the Fred Merkle of this century.

Mr Merkle was the only MLB'er my hometown ever produced.

Addie Joss played some college ball here, but Merkle was born and raised.

Addie Joss was a BADASS.

That he was, sir.

This is the first time a CUBS pitcher has had more than 1 hit in a game since 02 June in San Diego when Zambrano had 3.

Go CUBS !!

Actually Z has a couple multi hit games this year already including a 4 hit game.

Up by 6. It's requisite Marmol time.

I'm a Lou defender most times, but this is just stupid.

I don't think it's so bad. This is a good cushion to let Marmol get his confidence back in a game situation.

You don't want to try to straighten Marmol out after he's been wild and hasn't had much work in the past few weeks?

I'm not opposed to it.
