"I heard enough of that (stuff) in Chicago," said Baker, referring to Cubs folklore that places the blame for the club's World Series drought on a billy goat.

But second baseman Brandon Phillips isn't so sure there's not a curse behind the Reds' run of injuries.

"I asked Brandon about playing shortstop," Baker said, "and he said, 'Oh, man, not with the way things are going on now.' He believes in it."

For some reason, this is all really funny to me.

My favorite part of the article:

Jay Bruce was moved into the leadoff spot for the Reds, and Baker advised his rookie sensation not to change a thing.

"My experience batting leadoff is, just hit the same," Baker said. "I know he's not a prototype leadoff hitter, but neither is (Florida's) Hanley Ramírez, (former Giants star) Bobby Bonds or (the Cubs') Alfonso Soriano.

"A leadoff hitter is the hardest guy to find in sports — or baseball at least. And Jerry was doing a helluva job."

This guy is unreal...
