Me and a couple friends were planning to go up to Wrigley June 12th for the game against the Braves. We were wondering if tickets were still being sold outside of Wrigley, by people outside the bars once you get off the red line. So is that still going on this year?

Just be careful about who you're buying them from. Never trust people just walking around the perimeter of Wrigley who slyly say "You need two?" I've had friends burned by that in the past. However, if people are standing outside a bar, there's a better chance they work either with a ticket broker or through some other official ticket channel.

Call me crazy, but I always ask the guy selling tickets to see his ID. There no reason he shouldn't show it to you, everyone carries one around. I at least get the guys name (assuming it's a real ID), not that there's anything I can do with the info. But I'd be leery to buy from someone who seemed "suspicious of me".

Most of the guys are fine. There are the regulars, and I agree with the previous post of staying away from the guys who are like "you need two?"

Two main places would be right off the redline or at Murphys. You can talk then down $10 pretty easy. Or if you want to wait, I've gotten $60 face tickets at $45 just by waiting one inning, and we were there while it was still top of the second.

Also, make sure to check the date on the tickets before walking away. Big one there.

About 15 years ago we went down without tickets. Found a "you need 2" guy. We asked him to see the tickets. He handed them to me, looked over my shoulder and took off running. There was a cop walking towards us. We had tickets in hand and "you need 2" guy was gone. Free tickets for us! :D
