Any interest in Freddy? He is reportedly waiting until he is healthy to sign with anyone which could be in June or July. If healthy he could be a good replacement for Marquis as he has shown the ability to miss bats in the past and we would not have to trade anyone to get him. I am not optimistic about Lou giving Hill another chance this year and while I like Marshall I would like to do better.

Freddy Garcia's agent said Wednesday that his client will wait until he's healthy before signing.

In that case it may be midseason before he's ready to ink a deal, but Garcia was in Red Sox camp Wednesday being examined by Boston's training staff. "We think the Mets, the Yankees, Boston, those teams are going to be competing, and their specific needs will become more evident by June and July," agent Peter Greenberg said. "Right now's not the right time for us to think about signing him with any one team."

He hasn't been good since 2005 (average in 2006) and while he is supposed to sign with a team in June/July, he isn't supposed to be ready for the big leagues until September. I don't see how he would be likely to help this team.

And I absolutely see Lou giving Hill another chance. Hendry is going down personally to watch Hill pitch tomorrow night, and as soon as Hill doesn't have severe control issues for 2-3 consecutive starts, he'll likely be up. When Pie, Murton, or Marshall went down, Lou didn't say they were essential to the team winning this season. But he did do that with Hill.

Honestly, if it didn't cost that much, I'd take a flier. But I know the reason he hasn't signed yet is because he wants some sort of decent contract.
