Thought that I'd give a little section of the recent Cubs.com article:

Soriano, who was on the disabled list earlier this season with a strained right calf, didn't look comfortable running, and was taken out of the game.

"I talked to him, and it doesn't bother him, but it's a confidence thing," Piniella said. "He doesn't trust it. I said, 'What's wrong?' He said it's confidence. I have to check with his confidence before the ballgame [saturday]."

The Cubs had Soriano get on the treadmill and do some strength tests after he was pulled from the game.

"I'm more like a little scared because I didn't do anything for two days," he said. "I lost a little confidence. [saturday], I'll be better. [it is] another day, and I'll be good because I worked today."

"Obviously, he needs to run better," Piniella said.

Soriano is certainly an...interesting individual. Hopefully the threat of possibly going back on the DL is enough for him to test it a little more.

He needs to go on the DL for 14 days or more to heal this thing. He's worthless right now.

He may not be able to score from 2nd on a single or steal a base, but he's far from worthless. He still managed 2 hits yesterday and he'll hit his homers.

i'm hoping he was being sarcastic.

I still just can't get over how we were sold on the fact that this is a guy whose body type and athleticism will keep him spry and healthy deep into his later 30s. And just one year into his deal, he's got serious leg problems.

Maybe if he goes on the DL again the cubs will have another offensive outburst, and when he gets back jacks 9 homers in what 10 days or so. Goes back to the dl and the pattern continues, I'd pay 136 million for that sort of production. Lou just needs to time it out right so he's playing in the playoffs, if he can do that then we need a "Who owes Lou an apology thread".

I was listening to the game on XM radio and the Pirates announcers were saying that Soriano had to be hurt. How deep was Lee's flyball? They seemed sure he'd score if he was healthy.

It was about medium-depth. There probably would have been a play at the plate.
