The other day they ran WGN radio highlights of the 20K game, which made me realize that I've never heard the radio broadcast of that game.

Also, it's the Cubs broadcast and not the Astros' one (which is unfortunately the one MLB.TV has)

I was a sophomore in college, living on Cornelia and Sheffield, and decided to ditch class early and grab tickets at the gate for that game. As a walk up (15 minutes before the game), I got 3rd row behind the plate, right next to the scouts with the radar guns.

 

That was the last time I ever got seats that good as a walk-up.

Wow, that vintage Sportscenter segment they showed mentioned that in 1997, only one Cubs hit more than 13 HR and that was of course Slammy.

Thanks for the heads up Vance. I immediately started taping the game. I think I started in the 4th inning. If anyone has a copy...I'm interested. In '98, I saw the game on TV, while living in Kansas City, MO.

In case anyone can set their DVR or TiVo, ESPN classic will replay the game at 2 am central time.

 

I think the Summer of '98 was the most fun I've ever had being a Cubs fan. Just amazing.
