Out of curiosity, I looked up Ludwick's minor league stats. His career high OPS for a long time was .930, set in 2002 with the AAA Rangers affiliate. At age 28/29, he suddenly OPS'd 1.022 for the Cardinals' AAA affiliate, and is now OPS'ing 1.125 and turns 30 in July.

i always thought ludwick deserved more of a chance than he got - seems kinda like matt murton to me as a corner outfielder. obviously less patient but with more power, so i mean it in terms of the productivity that you get from him. he's an adequate starting corner outfielder on an average or below-average team, and a good fourth outfielder on a team that's supposed to contend for a world series. His PECOTA projection for this year was .256/.331/.475, for an EqA of .274.

 

That being said, his EqA is currently more than 100 points ahead of his PECOTA projection, so this is getting ridiculous.
