Josh Vitters was in Chicago getting his hand checked out:

Peoria Journal Star[/url]"]Josh Vitters, the Chicago Cubs' top-ranked prospect according to Baseball America, was in Chicago to have his injured hand examined by the club's medical staff.

"He's still bothered," Chiefs manager Ryne Sandberg said. "It's a little bit of tendinitis in his hand."

Vitters aggravated the hand swinging April 21 against Lansing. He left that game in the fifth inning.

Ceda wasn't as good: 3 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 2 K/2 BB. The weirdest thing with his Daytona performance are the hits surrendered.

Oh, and cut down on the walks, Donnie.

It's only been 37 plate appearances for Mark Reed but the bat has been good so far: .323/.432/.387/.819. 6 BB / 3 K.

Also, Eyre has thrown on back-to-back days and done pretty well. He's probably close to getting up to Chicago.

Donnie Veal hasn't given up an earned run in 22 consecutive innings. His last 4 starts: 23.1 IP, 18 H, 1 ER, 14 K, 10 BB. Heck, in only 1 of his 6 starts this year has he given up more than 1 ER.

His BB/9 is up from last season (yikes) but his BAA is down nearly 40 points.

glad to see Mark Reed's bat coming around. Sounds like he's swinging it like he did in the 1st half of 2006 - sounds like maybe he got some help in the offseason or ST. Hopefully he's got a repeatable / sustainable approach back that works!
