We should do better against the west this year. The NL West = last year's NL Central, as the worst division in baseball. If it weren't for AZ, there wouldn't be one decent team in the division. Ironically, I think the NL Central may be the toughest division this year in the NL.

As for whoever said the only thing making SD tough is Peavy and Young, Young put up a 4.80 ERA after the AS break, went on the DL, and is sporting a decent 3.77 ERA this year. Last year's first half was a flash in the pan. He's an above league average pitcher, but nowhere near ace consideration, and shouldn't be mentioned in the same league as Peavy.

We're pretty good, the Brewers are also pretty good. If the Cardinals keep playing above their talent level (which isn't unusual for that franchise), they're off to a good start. The East is better on paper, but right now the Central is playing the best.

The Cardinals have two guys on that entire team that I would want on the Cubs. Two. Yet here they are playing great ball again.

Interesting. were almost throught with this stretch, and were still 2.5 above with the best record in the NL, tied for the best in baseball. We faced injury depleted Pads, Dodgers, and Rockies, and swept the D-backs. What we werent expecting at the time of this post was:

-The Rays 3, game set to be something to fear

-While the Cubs and White Sox always play there best against each other, The White Sox are on the top of their hot strek, and The Cubs appear to be cooling down. Hopefully this trend changes in the next 2 weeks.

-The continued success of the Cards

-The road woes

-the slumping of key bats.

I guess we'll have to see what happens.
