Starting for the RedHawks tonight should be none other than Sidney Ponson. He pitched well when I saw him on Wednesday night and I would look for another solid outing. He's still featuring a low 90's fastball.

AZ Phil was at Fitch on Monday.

  • Scott Eyre and Chad Fox are out of Arizona as they get closer to the big leagues. Fox will head to Daytona; AZ Phil wasn't sure where Eyre would go but both the Daily Herald and Sun-Times recently have said Scott would likely go to Daytona too.
  • Rehabbers Billy Petrick, Jim Henderson and Jon Mueller looked ok to good but Todd Blackford struggled quite a bit.
  • Chris Huseby threw a live BP session before the extended spring training game to try and correct his mechanics.
  • Drew Rundle went 2 for 4 with a double.

Tyler Colvin walked in the first inning for Tennessee. :shock:

Josh Vitters is 0 for 2 (popout, GIDP). At some point, you have to start worrying about Josh Donaldson, who's down to a .150 batting average and an OPS below .475.

Vitters pulled in the bottom of the 5th inning defensively...not sure if he's hurt or what (though he didn't get a turn at bat in the top of the 5th so I'm not sure how likely it is he's hurt).

This whole Peoria lineup needs some work. The high watermark in terms of batting average is Blake Lalli who's hitting .267.

I'm starting to get a little concerned about Donaldson as well.

After not walking anyone last time out, Donnie Veal gave up 4 walks and a HBP in 5 innings. Ended up giving up 2 unearned runs too (thanks to two errors by the infield); one of those runs reached on a walk. Tyler Colvin went 0 for 3 with 2 walks.

I was planning to go to the Tennessee-Carolina game, but decided against it when there were several severe thunderstorm warnings in the area (including my county) at the time I would have needed to leave in order to get to the game on time. Oh well, I'm not complaining; I didn't mind watching tonight's Cubs game instead. :D

Pignatiello had a terrible outing tonight in the 9th inning: 1 IP, 4 hits, 4 runs, 1 K/0 BB's, 1 HR given up. EPatt was 0/3 with a walk and a run scored in the 6-1 loss.

Veal got the win as Tennessee defeated Carolina 6-3. Matt Craig had a huge night as he went 4/4 with a walk, two doubles, and two runs driven in. Colvin finished 0/3 with two walks and a run scored. Nice patience, kid.

Damn I am good.

Ponson = 7 IP 4 H 2 BB 4K 0 ER

He must have a hell of a pitching coach down there in Oklahoma.

I'm just going to assume that this is a typo.

Heh, Colvin has gotten a walk in two games this season...he's gotten 2 in each of those games, though.
