Anyone want to wager on how long it will take for a fan in those new seats to get plunked by a pitch from the pen?

Probably a long time. They have a plexi-glass protector running about two feet up off where the wall juts out towards the field that, unless the fan is standing, completely protects them. Unless a pitcher really loses grip of one and puts it high up in the seats.

That's good. But does the plexiglass inhibit the view? Do you have to look through it to see the game?

Well I don't know if the bricks are low enough that the plexiglass doesn't reach eye level. If I am paying decent money for those seats, I don't want to be looking through plexiglass the whole time.

It's completely clear. It won't inhibit anything except maybe distorting a little bit of foul territory the slightest bit.

I would think that it would be just like being at a hockey game. It's pretty cool, being 'right there' in front of it, even though you may 'duck' if the ball is hit right at you. The plexiglass, doesn't really inhibit the view, though in a hockey match you'll see scratch marks and stuff through the game, I can't see that really happening in a baseball game.

Reports are the field is playing very slick and fast.

Link.

It's a fast infield and a fast outfield right now," manager Lou Piniella said. "There are a few dead spots in the infield because the weather hasn't warmed, and it's still cold underneath. It will probably be a month or so before this field plays the way it will play the rest of the summer."

Well "Slick" probably had something to do with the ridiculous amount of rain it received on opening day.

So the grass is only 6" inches high this year?
