Anyone think Kroeger can be a regular starter? He was really good last year before getting injured and he's been pretty good during ST

 

Kroeger was a highly touted prospect in the Diamondbacks system before falling out of favor. In 2005, Sickels rated him the number five prospect in their system.

 

Sickels had this to say.

 

Kroeger has good power from the left side, but is still an unrefined hitter in many ways, and will need additional time in the minors.

 

In 2005, he put up mediocre numbers in a good hitting environment. He failed in a brief call-up with the Dbacks, and in 2006 his numbers were dismal.

 

He did very well last season at age 24. It's likely he's just a late bloomer and that it has taken him this long to put it all together.

 

He's a corner outfielder, so unless the Cubs are besieged by injury, he's in the wrong organization to break through. He would be a decent LH bat off the bench.
