What's the big deal, really? We all know Bruce is legit, so what if FJM rips him? I doubt he's sitting in a Mesa, AZ hotel room with a bottle of scotch instead of out drumming up stories.

Except, that is, for The Daily Herald. According to my intro to journalism teacher last semester, at least (who also worked in sports at the Daily Herald..). According to him the DH was the only paper in the area who was reporting steady gains in profit/circulation or whatever.

I don't even think it's accurate to say they ripped him. It was a standard, obligatory piece they do any time anyone talks about scrap or grit or intangibles as a reason to justify short, white crappy baseball players who get any real amount of playing time. There was nothing remarkable or scathing about it.
