ARLINGTON, Texas - The Texas Rangers filled one of their primary off-season needs Wednesday night when they acquired first baseman Ben Broussard from the Seattle Mariners for minor league infielder Tug Hulett.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Just call him Kaz. That's what the new Texas Rangers reliever prefers.

The Rangers introduced Japanese reliever Kazuo Fukumori (foo-koo-MOR'-ee) today after agreeing to a $3 million, 2-year deal that includes a team option for 2010.

While Fukumori knows little English, he introduced himself and added, "Call me Kaz."

The right-hander say he came to America for a new challenge

The Rangers today also signed infielder Edgardo Alfonzo to a minor league contract.

It's the year of the fuku!

Surprisingly, he's only 34. But, 2006 was his last major league season, and he put up a mammoth -7 OPS+.

Holy crap, I didn't know you could have an OPS+ under 0.
