Sickels gives reasons for his opinions.

Are you always excessively obnoxious?

Meph gives reasons for his opinions, too. You just have to be around for them because, quite understandably, repeating oneself over and over again gets old.

I have respect for Meph's opinions on baseball. I don't agree with all of them, but I have respect for them. I have no respect for how he chooses to treat other people. But that is an unfortunate reality of life on the internet. Perhaps its the safety of being out of range that emboldens people to treat each other so horribly on message boards, but its likely not changing anytime soon. Unless, of course, there is a radical shift in what behavior is tolerated.

I did a quick and dirty comparison on Greene's fly outs, triples, and doubles using the hit charts on MLB.com and compared them to the dimensions of Wrigley. 7 of his FOs most likely would have been homers, 2 of his triples would have been homers, and 5 of his doubles would have been homers. This by no means is meant to be exact (obviously wind is a big factor), just an exercise to show the differences between Petco and Wrigley.

If you make those changes, Greene's 2007 OPS goes from 759 to 793.

Just glancing at 2006 hit charts and it probably would have had a bit of a smaller difference, but in 2005, there would have been a huge difference (eyeballing ~150% of the 2007 difference). A 265/310/490 seems entirely reasonable at Wrigley.

It's not just the size of Petco that hurts power numbers. The weather is a major factor too.

True, although that wouldn't be much better in Wrigley where his fly balls would be battling the Wrigley wind blowing in 2/3 of the year.
