You posted "the" before "U of I" to sound mighty and prestigious, like "The Ohio State University." You can admit it, it's okay.

And as for Davis, that's pretty old news. He committed really early and with Coffman likely coming back and the No. 6 TE in the nation, Andrew Jones, coming here, Davis would've been buried on the depth chart for awhile.

Florida's receivers laugh in the face of Maclin and the rest of yours.

Dude, you started rooting for Florida because they're good, not because you have any connections whatsoever to the school. You have absolutely ZERO room to talk trash. Have you ever even been to the state of Florida?

Yes considering I rooted for them through the Zook era and all. I mean it's just like I woke up overnight and started liking them..I have as much as a connection to the Gators as 1/3 of this place does to the Cubs so shut up about it. Besides criticizing any Cubs fan as a fair weather fan is a little absurd, don't ya think.

Mizzou is set at tight end and wanted him to move to defensive end, which he did not want to do. So he switched to Illinois where he will be a tight end.

No I posted "the" before U of I because it sounds correct. IIf I wanted it to sound high any mighty I wouldve at least capitalized it. You can admit being nit picky over anything U of I, its okay. Enjoy your bowl

Floridas recievers laugh in the face of Meyer as they are transferring to the U of I as well.

Oh god.

What? I think you are getting a little nit picky. Heaven forbid I ever use the word "the" before saying U of I, considering it sounds stupid without the word "the", but whatever.

And with that I will post this. Mizzou commit London Davis TE from Cahokia Il, has backed out of his commitment, to come join THE Zooker.

Wait, Illinois recruited a player after he had verbally committed to another school?!?!?! Oh the humanity!!!!

That said, "U of I" needs the "the" in front of it.

No like what has been said Mizzou wanted Davis to switch positions, but Davis didnt want to so he openly announced to EVERYBODY he was decommiting, unlike certain players we wont mention.

And yes "the" belongs in front of U of I.

I've never heard a single person put "the" before U of I.

"Where you going to school?"

"U of I"

No one I know has ever said "Oh, I'm going to the U of I." That sounds [expletive].

Either way, someone needed to call you out on your blind homer-ism. Enjoy losing to USC by 40.

Good, you guys can have all the East St. Louis recruits you want. I prefer Mizzou to have as few gangbangers as possible.

We save the gangbangers for our basketball team.

Meph has officially joined Bowl mania on http://games.espn.go.com/bowlmania/frontpage

Now's your chance to take him on one on one.

You do realize that even if my picks are "more right" than others, the odds are that I won't win this thing, right?

It's like playing hold 'em with pocket rockets and five guys in for the flop. You're the favorite, but the odds of you leading after the flop are pretty low, although higher than any other individuals.

I didn't realize it was weighted. I have little to no desire to sift through 32 games and rank them in order. I picked and gave up after a couple of minutes of ranking.

Are you really this dumb? If somebody answers "Oh Im going to University of Illinois", you seriously think that sounds correct? Wouldnt surprise me at all coming from a Mizzou student, but its wrong.

And you of all people should know about blind homer-ism. Enjoy yourself. Im done with this thread, Ill stick to the BCS thread, while you enjoy your non BCS game.

Are we really arguing grammar? If you say the full name, then not putting "the" in there sounds dumb. If you abbreviate the name, then putting "the" in there sounds dumb.

Hes the one that had the problem with it. Like I said if I was trying to sound all high and mighty, I would have capitalized THE. Obviously he has a problem with me for my so called homerism, and he felt this was the time to say something. Whatever

Are you really that dumb? As TT said, I'm talking about the abbreviation, not the full name. I'm glad you're taking your whining and crying elsewhere. We're all better off because of it.

What? There's a difference between saying "Oh Im going to the University of Illinois" and "Oh Im going to U of I." You abbreviated U of I, and it sounds better when you dont put the in front. And yes, this is a stupid argument.

The University of Missouri is better than the University of Illinois.

MU is better than U of I.

Both are correct statements.
