Ibanez?

Today's Southtown mentions the Cubs possible interest in Ibanez. Haven't heard much discussion of Ibanez as a trade possibility.

I saw a bit somewhere (either Trib or Times) that said possible interest in Chone Figgins as well

I wouldn't mind Ibanez at the right price, but I think his numbers are gonna start to dip.

That's how I feel too. He'll turn 36 next season. He doesn't have a ton of power (.188 ISOP in 07), he doesn't walk a ton (.083 BB/PA). He's cheap, but he's a very short-term answer, and is not a good OF.

Hes definitely a surplus, but considering he was their best hitter last year and is signed for cheap, there will probably be a pretty decent price to pay. Assuming they sign Kuroda, they could still probably use another starter. Maybe they'd want some competition for Jose Lopez at second. We'd probably have to throw in a couple decent prospects.
