Trading prospects for a guy like Nathan is what smart organizations do. You'll have him at a good price for one year, then let him walk and take two draft choices. If your amateur scouting and player development divisions know what they're doing, you'll have more trade chips in a couple of years. And the cycle continues...

That said, the Cubs have more pressing needs.

Like, oh I don't know....maybe...AN OFFENSE?!?

I think the Cubs are thinking Wood for closer all the way, thought they may insist there is competition for the job. I don't see them going after Nathan.

I think Rosenthal has a mild version of Tourette's...I mean its like he just blurts out big names, and random teams.

Kind of like Dusty's Dice?

This is incorrect. It's the other way around.

Wuertz, Howry, Marmol, Wood, plus assorted vets and rookies that they already have.

Please focus elsewhere, Cubs.

Agreed. Nathan is a great closer, but when I look at the lineup bullpen/closer doesn't strike me as where we should be focusing.

It all boils down to talent evaluation, beit your own prospects, others prospects, and draft picks.
