That confuses me if true. Either he didn't want the job long term, or the new potential owners are forcing him out. I thought the Trib was happy with the job he did in his first year. Interesting stuff. If true, I hope for the best for John.

My buddy at work said he also heard it on Mike and Mike. He also said he hear in the report that he was going to the Blackhawks.

Well that's interesting. I'm guessing the Trib just makes Hendry president/GM, since that's the exact opposite thing I'd want to happen and that's usually what does happen.

Then one of the Turners (Bear OC or SD Head coach) will take over at Michigan?

I'm puzzled by this.

But I think it's much more a clear gain for the Hawks than it is a clear loss for the Cubs.

They must have thrown a boatload at him to get him to leave for the Hawks, unless he grew up a huge Hawks fan and this was his dream job. Great move for the Hawks. If he can even do half of what he did for the Cubs marketing wise, it will make the Blackhawks a much better organization.

Maybe he rethought that Soriano contract and bolted before the torches were lit. To have the choice of being President of either team would be a dream come true for many people.

Nope. Only works that way for the Cubs.

Michigan will get a great head coach, whether that be Miles or someone else. I'm not worried about that.

What do you care? It's not like your crappy Hawkeyes are going to leapfrog the other 5 teams besides Michigan to somehow win the Big 10 sometime in the near future.

Maybe the sale of the Club is closer then reported earlier, and John saw the writing on the wall!

Good move by the Hawks, hope JH isn't going to take over his role?

Hendry is in the lab-or-it-tory as we speak creating the next monster.

Bruce, is Mark McGuire being named the new President? Maybe "someone" left too soon and I don't mean McD. Poor Blackhawks employees...I feel for them.

Good move by McDonough and the BHawks. Let's face it, the guy was one his way out from here so he did the right thing and moved on.

I agree. McDonough was integral in building the Cubs as a brand despite having a losing product on the field since he joined the organization.

Now that Rocky Wirtz in at the helm of the Blackhawks and home games FINALLY being televised, this clearly signifies that Chicago hockey fans have a future to look forward to.

Perhaps. But I'd need to know how he's going to work. McDonough wasn't qualified to hire a quality GM, or quality baseball people, and I find it hard to believe he'll be any more qualified to do the same with hockey people. I still have my doubts about Tallon and Savard, but I don't know who McDonough will lean on to make a decision on either one.
