Roger Clemens-S-Yankees Nov. 7 - 4:59 pm et

Roger Clemens plans to begin fulfilling his 10-year personal services contract with the Astros at the beginning of 2008.

He's not officially calling it a career, but this looks like a signal that he could be done. "Roger has said several times that he has failed at retirement, so I am not announcing his retirement," agent Randy Hendricks said. "The plan for 2008 is this: Roger plans to start the new year as the first year of his post-playing career contract as a consultant to the Houston Astros." If Clemens did decide to pitch again, it's likely that he'd again go for a partial regular season. "If one of the clubs Roger has played for calls me in April or May and says they have a need for Roger, and Roger feels like he would like to play another year, then we would try to work out a contract," Hendricks said.

Sounds like he might finally be retiring. Thank god.
