Someone (IMB?) started a keeper hoops league on Y! last year. There were 6 of us, but I can't remember who was who. I think Andy was in it, Dobson...can't remember the rest.

Are we keeping that league going? If IMB isn't interested (as I recall, you kind of lost interest midway through the season), I'm happy to run it. I have the league on my Y! profile, so if you remember playing in the league, but can't find your team, I can find it. We should probably add 2 more teams - I think 8 is about ideal for fantasy hoops. And there are plenty of keepers that will be out there - we set it up for each team to only keep 3 guys.

Anyway, let me know if you played last year and if not, if you're interested in playing this year. The returning players get first dibs, but if not all of last year's participants want to play, maybe we'll just throw their entire rosters in with all the other non-keepers and let the new teams draft from that lot.

Anyone...anyone...

I'd love to do it again.

I lost interest last year because you really need to have more teams to make it interesting, at least in my opinion.

If you want to run it, I'll join for sure.

I'll set it up and send invites to the 3 of you (cheapseats as a new team). But if IMB and/or Dobson can tell me who else here was in the league last year (I'm pretty sure Andy was, but I can't remember the rest), so that I can PM to see if they're still interested, that'd be great.

Edit: Found the old thread - IMB, Mark R, Dobson, Andy, Truffle, Wolf, Flames and me - there were 8. Let's try to add 2 more (cheapseats and 1 other).

Sound good?

Oh - Y! again.

If any of the players from last year haven't received a PM from me, please let me know. And if you aren't interested in playing, please let me know ASAP so we can look for a replacement.

Thanks.

Question: If we're adding teams, how are they going to select three keepers? Are we all going to pick our keepers and then they get what's left (to pick three players?)

Everybody lists their keepers, and then the two new guys take 3 players of the remaining pool AND they each get to select first or second to put everybody on a more level playing field.

Just a thought.

Well, at a minimum, the returning players get to keep 3 from their team (as we decided last year). Then, the new teams get to select from the non-keepers in a mini-draft.

I think we should leave the rest of the draft undetermined right now, until we see how the league looks after each team has 3 players. My reasoning being, with only 8 teams returning (at most, we could have fewer), there are going to be a lot of great players that aren't kept. Giving the new teams the top picks in two rounds, may be too much. I think we can decide more fairly once we see what those teams are.

Looks like Wolf is out for this year, so his team will get added to the pool of available players. With cheapseats, that puts us at 8 (if the rest of the teams from last year re-up). So we have at least 2 spots open to other new teams...

I'm saying give them the first and second overall pick (of guys not kept) since they're picking from inferior players to begin with to get them on a more level playing field.

Are we doing this? I can set up the league if enough people want me to. One note, I will be completely gone for about 7 weeks due to basic training in Texas. So, if I'm the commish, I'd be out of commission for awhile and not sure if anybody wants that. Season starts tonight, but there's no reason we can't do something to within a week to get this going.

We have 6 teams right now. If Mark & Play Pie are in, that's 8 which is what we had last year, but not really ideal. If we still want to get this done, let's do a draft in this forum (I can't really schedule one any night this week).

If you're returning from last year, please post your 3 keepers. If you can't remember which guys were on your final roster, please tell me which of the team's below was yours and I'll send you your final roster.

Where's Dr J

No-See-Oh-Nee

Hinrich's Heroes

Dobson's Supermarket

The Chapus

IMB - if you're around today, please let me know if you can still participate despite your recent run in with an idiot.[/code]

I'm in. I'm sure IMB will play. Do we have a deadline to set keepers by?

Draft time? Just random questions here.

With only 6 people in until this weekend, I kind of let it go. But I think with 8, if we can resurrect it, we can give it a go.

I'd like at least keepers to be in by today so that they're done before the games start and hopefully so that the 2 new teams can pick their first 3 guys from the leftovers (which are looking pretty good with 2 teams from last year not coming back).

Then I'd like to get a draft done, maybe in this thread, this week, so we can have everything up and running by the end of the week.

To revisit this - given that it looks like we only have 8 teams and the value of unkept players is higher than the value of some of the other team's keepers, I propose that after cheapseats and PlayPie get their first 3, we just do a standard draft with a random assignment of order. Looking at the list of guys that will be available for these teams to draft from the start, there's really no disadvantage to them (seriously, KG, Arenas, Bosh, TMac, Boozer, VC, etc etc etc - their top 3 aren't going to be any worse than everyone else's).

Is that a problem for anyone?
