Palm Beach Post[/url]"]Cubs outfielder Cliff Floyd, a Marlin from 1997-2002, has told people close to him that he'd like to end his career in Florida. Floyd, a free agent, lives near Fort Lauderdale.

Hope he does amazing in the playoffs, but I won't shed a tear not seeing him on the roster next season.

I always hoped he'd retire and be a barber in North Carolina. If Charlotte only had a team for him to play on first.

I'd be surprised if another NL team signed him but I also thought that this year too.

He seemed like he was really getting his groove back towards the end of the year.

1.079 OPS in September. Depending on how he does in the playoffs, I wouldn't hate it if he was brought back if NOTHING ELSE better comes up

I thought he wanted to finish his career as a Cub since he grew up in the Chicago area. Maybe his father's death changed his mind about that.

Same here. Ward, however, should be our #1 choice for a bench player. There's no excuse not to bring him back.

He would have to take a pay cut to play for the Marlins.

I thought the same thing. This seems contradictory to what he's said publicly.

.689 and .694 the 2 months before that.

Murton: .918 OPS after the ASB (.979 in Sept). Just like last season, there's no reason to spend money on Floyd. He's fine, but we have a cheaper, younger player that is going to match/exceed Floyd's performance at his position (corner OF).
