Anyone think Demp is done as closer after this disaster?

 

Not even close.

 

He's been good as a closer. Tonight he was the only guy warm because it looked like a save situation.

 

The constant Dempster bashing is irrational.

My level of comfort in Cubs closers from first to last:

1. Marmol

2. Howry

3. Eyre

4. Wuertz

5. Dumpster

6. Wood

 

I really would rather see almost any of the guys in over him. Moving him to a starting role where he sucked in the past isn't the answer.

 

Wood looked really good last time out.

I hope so. With any luck we can just let him rot on the bench for the rest of the year. Woody looked better last night. Just make Howry/Marmol the closer tandem and Woody's your setup guy.

 

Screw Dempster. He's been a 3-run walkoff waiting to happen all year. Just been lucky when he closes, it won't last. He'll blow at least a couple down the stretch if we try to use him there.
