First time fantasy football player. 8 teams, 15 rounds. Here's what I came away with. Please let me know your thoughts.

QB -- Tony Romo

RB -- Ladanian Tomlinson

RB -- Willis McGahee

WR -- Chad Johnson

WR -- Marques Colston

WR -- Lavernius Coles

TE -- Chris Cooley

K -- Jason Elam

DEF -- Ravens

Bench:

RB -- Thomas Jones

WR -- Jerry Porter

WR -- Moose Muhammed

WR -- Ted Ginn

TE -- Randy McMichael

QB -- Alex Smith

How did I do?

Honestly, with only 8 teams and the #1 pick (since you have LT) I would have expected a much better roster. Good luck though -- LT will carry you far. My starting backfield last year was LT (picked #2 overall) and Gore (4th rd pick) and I needed very little else to win my league.

Yeah, I was cussing myself as I wrote Romo up. I know it was a stupid move to take him 5th, but I thought he might have a breakout year. At this point, I'm considering dropping him and picking up Favre.

don't just straight cut him, at worst bench him. if he's a 5th round pick, you have to try to get some production out of him. drop one of your receivers if you want to get favre.

Quarterback is one position I sometimes carry three of, especially if any of them are young. With other positions a poor performance by one player can be offset by a big game from another, but you only have one quarterback in your lineup, so it's important to get a good performance. Having three QBs gives flexibility to bench a player due to an unfavorable matchup or a slump rather than just having a bye week replacement. I'd carry a third QB over a second kicker any day and twice on Sundays.
