It's been a while since I've had Webb score negative.

Apparently my pitching knows it's must-win time. Jeff Francis (42.75 pts) just followed up John Lackey's (43 pts) complete game with one of his own.

Ouch.

My team needs to step it up for the playoffs. Santana with another lackluster game. Gallardo's been bad. Morneau's not hitting much. Uggla just now starting to hit. Sheff hurt. Hamels hurt. Inconsistent play from Salty and Lugo. My team MVP is probably Kelvim Escobar at this point. He and Marcum are anchoring my staff right now.

Hernandez looks 55 today..............

Manny's out until Sept. 3 series. I benched him, moved Cust to OF, slid Giambi into U spot.

i frigging suck at picking what pitchers to start. i don't start sheets off the DL, and he pitches well. i don't start wang against the bosox, and he almost throws a no-no. meanwhile, i've started lilly, guthrie, and shawn hill, who have combined for like 3 points.

mmm...radhames liz on waivers

As he is now a major league player, I assume he's fair game instead of having to go through minor league waivers.

there has to be a better way to do this. the same thing's going to happen with a bunch of other september call-ups, i imagine.

Well, there's an article with a pretty comprehensive list of potential call-ups on the front page of the site. There are a couple names that have been added to the db that will clear waivers on 9/2. The teams with the worst records have first shot at them.

What's not fair? Why should managers that pay attention be penalized? Liz got called up last week and debuted on Monday. How long should the be in the majors before they're considered "normal" free agents?

easy does her...i'm not saying it's not fair. you and i have been the most waiver-watchingest guys in the league over the past few years, so you know i'm not wanting to penalize those managers.

i'm just wondering what we're doing about all the guys to be added on 9/2. are we waiting for a minor league waiver thing on them or should we put our claims in right now for them?

My question is ....

Is there a place on the site that you can see who has been added each week?

No

It would be nice though.

Juan,

if you could make Liz a SP for me, I'd appreciate it.

Two double-digit negative pitching starts in one day (Reyes and Washburn). Meanwhile I have Wandy's strong start against the Cubs on my bench. :x

Interesting playoff scenarios developing in the East. If the scores this week hold:

Sanitizers 14-7

Budcrew 12-9

Buddiga 12-9

Bashers 11-10

Sanitizers will clinch a playoff spot. Buddiga and Budcrew tied in the standings, head to head, and division record. That means, if both Buddiga and Budcrew win or lose next week, Budcrew will take it on the 4th tie-braker (total points). Buddiga must win and Budcrew must lose for Buddiga to make the playoffs under this scenario.

However, if Sanitizers can't hold on this week, that makes things weird:

Sanitzers 13-8

Budcrew 12-9

Buddiga 12-9

Bashers 11-10

Sanitzers and Buddiga play each other next week. If Buddiga wins, they would hold the head-to-head against Sanitizers. If Budcrew also wins, they hold the head-to-head against Sanitzers. Thus, Sanitzers miss the playoffs.

Should be fun!

Well, it turns out that it wouldn't have mattered. With the 71 points that Buchholz earned, I still would have been defeated this week.

Gives me hope for next year though.

if i lose this week it'll be because of the [expletive] defense the cubs played behind hill today. and because my dumb ass left wang on the bench. and because paul [expletive] byrd threw a shutout.

also, using head to head as tiebreaker is stupid. if i finish with the same record as buddiga, but outscore him by 300 points on the season, i'll be pissed when he makes the playoffs instead of me.
