Tigers to call up Maybin

Dave Dombrowski is on the record as saying, "I wouldn't trade Cameron Maybin straight up for Alfonso Soriano...." so I am looking forward to seeing how good this kid can be.

 

i wouldn't either. Maybin could be Soriano at a very cheap price for the next few years.

 

I wonder how Dombrowski meant that. Did he mean it as a comparison? That Maybin will actually be better than Soriano over the next couple seasons? Or that factoring in age and cost, that Maybin is a better value?

 

 

I think Maybin will be pretty good hitter and Gold Glove caliber CFer. I would trade Soriano to get him, in a heart beat. Probably wont be as good as Soriano the next couple of seasons though.

 

I was talking to my Dad who is a Tiger fan this morning and he is pretty happy with Maybin being called up. I mentioned him being rushed into a pennant chase. He didnt seem to mind. He mentioned Miguel Cabrera in 03. He also doesnt think the Tigers are going to win the WS this year and Maybin will probably start next season so why not get him started.

Maybin hit a hr to dead center at yankee stadium. It just barely got out though right near the 408 marker.

The reports were that the Nationals offer Soriano to the Tigers last year straight up for Maybin and that the Tigers rejected it. Guessing thats where it came from.

What Clemens doesn't know is that that kind of junk only works in the NL thanks to the stupid DH. AL baseball is glorified softball.
