:: looks into crystal ball ::

Soto gets a couple of hits

Kind of hard to do that with the day off.

That means he should have no problems getting to Colorado. Call him up already!

Third baseman Josh Lansford and pitcher Jose Pina were placed on the disabled list. Lansford has not played since July 23 because of a knee injury, and Pina injured his elbow last week.

I hope Alburquerque replaces Pina in the rotation.

After a triple and a walk last night, Tony Thomas' OPS is approaching 1.000

.325/.413/.575/.988, 10/16 BB/K, 15 SB, 0 CS

15SB with O CS and a .988 OPS?

Is this the kid that had a ridiculous year in college too? If so, it may be possible that he is figuring things out and the pick could turn out to be a steal.

Yep, Thomas was the guy who had the insane year at Florida State.

He turned 21 a month ago.

Yeah, I have seen him pitch at Boise (they have video of their home games) and Al looked good as long as he had his control.

He's been much better in Boise than he was in Peoria and I've said he was horrible in Peoria - don't see the point in lumping in those Peoria stats when I've said he was bad there the first time around.

He's been much better in Boise (overall - 41 IP, 3.73 ERA, 49 K/17 BB). Sure he's been worse starting compared to relieving at Boise (5.25 ERA vs. 1.59 ERA) but he's averaging 4 IP per relief appearance (which is more than he gets in a start) so he's logging innings like a starter. You can see the BB total goes up whenever he has a bad start - as I said, his biggest problem in Boise has been his control.

Looking at the games, his slider looks sharp. I can't imagine it was that good in Peoria or he'd have done much better. He's inconsistent but his stuff looks good and while I didn't see him in Peoria, I have to think he's improved quite a bit from his first shot with the Chiefs.
