i read an article somewhere that david wells bought a ball signed by ruth, got it signed by aaron, and had bonds sign it last week. that'd be a pretty cool piece to have.

I wouldn't spoil a Ruth autograph like that (not that I don't like Aaron).

But I guess Boomer is rich enough that he can have a Ruth ball that is just Ruth, etc.

Still, though, that would be a pretty kickass ball to have. That's for sure a one-of-a-kind.

No doubt.

Like I said, if I had the money to have individual balls signed by each of them, then I wouldn't mind having one signed by all three.

I get chills on Opening day, playoff games the Cubs aren't even in, no hitters, a ton of things.

Didn't feel a thing there.

A black mark.

257 to go A-Rod.

still...ruth balls are surprisingly common for how long ago he played. the ruth/aaron/bonds ball is truly one of a kind, and i'd have to guess that it would be one of the most valuable signed balls on earth.

Exactly my reaction.

I didn't feel like I was watching a special moment in baseball.

True.

I remember reading about how one time in the mid-40's when Ruth was signing balls for people at a charity event, he said "this is crazy, I didn't know there were still people on earth that didn't have my John Hancock!"

Kinda sucks for Giants fans that a Mets fan got the ball.

Agreed. I wonder if there will be a lawsuit over the ownership of the ball. Wasn't there a lawsuit over another historic Bonds HR ball?

Awesome. Hopefully when this season closes Barry can begin to find peace. Congratulations on the remarkable career.

Is that genuine or is that a "don't let the door hit you on the ass" comment?

I'm not sure about the "Awesome" part, but I agree with the rest.

Congrats Barry.

Whether or not your felt something when you saw it, you still saw a part of history. That could go down as a great moment in baseball, or one of the most infamous moments in sports. Only time will tell. At least you can now say you saw it when it happened, just like many of us can with 9/11, and many others can with the moon landing.

That's a BIT of hyperbole there, my friend.

Think of how many times you've seen the clip of Hank Aaron's record breaking home run. I'm not putting Bonds hit on par with 9/11 or the moon landing, but I'm saying that whether you like it or not, this was a historic night. And you will see that clip quite often in the future... until ARod breaks it.

I must say, I was REALLY surprised by the Hank Aaron video.

I was, but at the same time I wasn't.

It once again proves that he's a better man than me.

It's a shame it had to come to this. Barry could have been remembered moderately fondly as one of the best hitters of his generation, but he had to taint his career and the best record in sports.
