I would agree with you except for the fact that he isn't on the 40-man roster. I'm not sure who they could move to make room for him.

60 day DL for Guzman would make the most sense to make room for EPatt.

I'm hoping and thinking it will be Pie that will be called up.

I think Guzman was added to the 60 day DL when Wood was activated. Blanco could be moved to the 60 day DL though I think.

Yeah, Gooz is already on the 60-day DL. Blanco could be placed on it, but I think the obvious move would be Pie (especially considering the defensive woes that Jones and Pagan have experienced recently).

I think Pie will almost certainly be up, but I'm terrified that the most common outfield alignment during the next couple of weeks will be Floyd-Jones-DeRosa

That could be the most common alignment even if Pie IS called up! We all know about Lou's unwillingness - good or bad - to let players (especially the really young ones) to play through bad spells. If Pie can't produce, he'll sit or get sent back down.

Here's to hoping he's called up and performs to Lou's liking.

Here's to also hoping he gives Murt a chance and he also produces, thus making a normal OF alignment over the next couple/few weeks of Murton/Pie/Floyd-Jones or Murton/Pie/Jones-DeRosa.

I don't understand why Floyd keeps getting playing time. He's a liability in RF and his .753 OPS sure isn't anything to write home about. It's like Lou loves him because he's old, lefty, and can kill the ball once a month. I don't know if it was mentioned in last night's broadcast or sometime earlier, but we don't have a lefty on the team with more than 4 homeruns. That's pathetic.

Floyd-Pagan-Jones...your new regular outfield given Lou's disinterest in playing Murton and Pie?

No. There will be a platoon at all three OF positions. Floyd/Murton in Left, Pie/Pagan in Center and Jones/DeRosa in Right. When DeRosa plays RF Cedeno will start somewhere in the infield. It's very logical.

Logical, yes. Here's another piece of logic: if you're platooning all 3 outfield positions, it's because your outfield sucks.

Inescapable logic. Gotta love it.

Kenny Lofton would be looking pretty good right about now. My Guess is Theriot gets leadoff, with Pie coming up, and Murton and Pie sharing Lt, and Center and Rt staying about the same with Jacque and Floyd. Sorianos inconsistant production lately makes his absence a bit more palletable.

As long as they dont pull a Dusty move and sign someone sorry like Bobby Kielty =.

a lot of the others called up this season weren't on the 40-man either

why would you all wish for Pie to be called up and keep Murton company on the bench?

I don't. Murton should have been traded before July 31st, but since it's too late for that I think he should stay in Iowa for the rest of 2007 and be traded in the offseason. Same goes for Pie. Having them here now will just reduce their trade value in November.

If you go to the Cubs.com page, and read the synopsis of the preview for tonight's game, it says Eric Patterson is expected to get the callup. It doesn't, however, mention it at all in the article itself, which is weird. I was pretty surprised when I saw it.

Epatt? We have to be nearing the record for most people added to the 40-man in one season.

And we clearly have a shortage of middle infielders.
