Yunel Escobar-3B-Braves Jul. 31 - 2:44 pm et

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Yunel Escobar is involved in the conversations between the Braves and Reds for Bronson Arroyo.

Escobar and Jo-Jo Reyes for Arroyo is a fair offer. The Reds, though, have Alex Gonzalez signed through 2009, and it's doubtful Escobar would prove to be an upgrade on Edwin Encarnacion at third base. If they did get Escobar, it could be to move him for pitching in the offseason. He's definitely in demand.

Crimeny, is Schuerholz retiring next year or something?

You really have to wonder what's going on in Atlanta. They are making a ton of moves and giving away a bunch of their prospects in a win-it-all mode this year. Definitely a head scratcher.

Good for the Braves fans. I assumed that Liberty Media's purchase would lead to the franchise's downfall, but it seems to have brought a renewed vigor to the front office.

I forgot who was talking about this, but that is exactly what I heard on the radio. His time is running short, so he's building for now rather than the future.

if the braves land arroyo they immediately jump up to the team to beat in the NL

Arroyo puts them over the top?

Right.
