speaking of awful pitching, alfonseca combined with someone named zagurski to blow a 2-run 9th inning lead to the nationals. I like the Phillies but as a Cub fan who realizes that they have pretty good talent, I have to root against them.

 

The White Sox relief pitching is absolutely garbage. You could probably go out there trying to throw a knuckle ball every time and still do better than most of their relievers.

 

Contreras brought the gas can tonight too... his ERA is up over 6.00 now. Good luck getting solid value for him on the trade market, Kenny.

He's fallen off a cliff. His velocity is way down and he's had like a 9.00 ERA his past 7 games or so.

who knows... he's just awful. I remember earlier in the year they had a late-game situation where they had a righty reliever in against Jock, and a lefty reliever ready in the pen. He stuck with the righty and Jock hit a 2-run double. It was the easiest lefty-lefty decision in baseball history, and he didn't make it.

 

I really think the Phillies would be the best contender for the wild card if they had a real manager.

Giants hold the 2-1 lead going to the bottom of the eighth. Lowry has pitched very well today — 8 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K.
