It was simply to light a fire under Koyie Hill. 5 RBIs today!!!
And a home run Monday after the trade was announced but before Kendall reported.

There's more than one way Kendall can help the Cubs. :D

Hill's already earned the title of Big Z's personal catcher, so that should help him in the future either with the Cubs or whoever Zambrano ends up with.

Unfortunately I think Kendall starts tomorrow

Playing Hill today will light a fire under Kendall? :-s

Warning - small sample sizes!

Koyie Hill's season line is:

.179/.250/.328/.578

His BABIP is .182.

His BABIP in 2005 was .333 and in 2004 was .276.

If he had six more singles this season (no credit for any additional extra base hits), his BABIP would be .291, and his line would be:

.269/.329/.418/.747

I hope they give him some time to possibly grow into the kind of moderately useful hitter his minor league numbers once suggested he might be.

Didn't you guys want him DFA'd just yesterday? :P
To paraphrase a saying, it's a Cub fan's perogative to change his/her mind. :D

Seriously, I'd still prefer Soto as backup catcher (I think the Cubs need to find out whether he can be a major league catcher for the future). It has been a good couple of games for Hill, though.

Personally, I wanted Bowen to be gone.

That guy makes Todd Hundley look like he's got a quick bat.

It certainly was nice to see the Cubs put up excellent offensive numbers without Lee and Ramirez in the lineup.
