I've already had 3 people come up to me talking about last nights victory and the Jason Kendall trade -- people who really don't follow baseball a whole lot. They know I'm a Cubs fan by my "fan stuff" at my desk.

I love that the Cubs are getting this exposure....though I don't believe it will last. But it's good, for at least the briefest of times that the Cubs are at the forefront of the news and not the Yankees or Red Sox.

Anytime the Cubs fart out a winning streak the baseball world takes notice.

Speaking of, has anyone watched ESPN lately? (I know, it's hard). . But since the Yankee's are way out of it. Is there still the same amount of coverage on the Yankee's as always? Did they just shift over the extra time to the winning Red Sox or have the Cubs gotten any more time because of their winning.

They should. But I think I know what the answer is. Someone humor me anyway, please?

Sorry, I was too engrossed in the new series, "The Bronx Is Burning" to notice.

last nights game wouldn't have been on ESPN except for the fact that Barry was supposed to start. I bet they were ticked when they found out he wasn't starting.

No doubt, but Cubs made the front page on ESPN because of it. So Barry's notoriety worked to the Cubs benefit.

I like it when the Cubs do well and the media talks about them.

I watched Baseball tonight last night...Kruck actually inferred he thought Barry didn't start b/c he didn't like ESPN's reporters and didn't want to help ESPN by playing in games they televised.

I heard this elsewhere, I forget from whom or where they were citing. I think it's kind of ridiculous, personally. You can play a game and still tell Pedro to take a hike afterward.

Remember when Sammy started the one season with 499 HR? ESPN (or ESPN2) ended up televising the first three games of that season in hopes of broadcasting that HR. They gave up after 3 games and Sammy hit it in the fourth, which was pretty funny, but they'll indoubtedly make a bigger push to cover Barry's tying and record-breaking hits. Will he sit out all those games? If he did, would it be a more emphatic highlight on Barry and his attitude or on ESPN and their worthlessness? I can get behind any ESPN hating, it just doesn't seem to make much sense for Bonds to show it that way.

My wife(hates sports, is an Arizona native and thinks baseball is boring) is now watching the Cubs with me because people at her work are talking about the Cubs, so I guess our team is good, maybe.

To be fair, my wife and I married in 2004 so she has never experienced a good Cubs team. I really can't blame her for not liking baseball after watching the trash in Wrigley the last two in a half years.
