It didnt really look all that serious. But you never know. Just gotta hope it isnt one of those lingering injuries.

I think Floyd is just a large mass of lingering injuries.

You make a good point.

Not that I'd want Cliff on the shelf, but it'd temporarily "solve" our crowded outfield & would allow for the 12th pitcher that Lou wants... The middle infield could go w/ the rotation of Fontenot/TheRiot/Izzy; CF could go Pagan/JJ; RF as DeRo/Pagan/Ward. IF Cliff ends up on the DL, and we get rid of the 3rd catcher, then bring up Pie?

Exactly. I heard on BCB that Billy Petrick would be recalled if Floyd had to hit the DL.

If he did go on the DL, I'd bring up Murton.

Seconded.

I'd rather bring up Cedeno and stick DeRosa in RF. Let the three farm kids handle the MI duties and leave DeRosa in right for a few weeks.

I love Murton, but Cedeno is blazing hot and for a short stint in bigs, I'd rather ride the hot hand and not toy Murton anymore.

Bunch of possibilities, actually. Pie, Murton, Coats, Cedeño if DeRosa starts at RF. And if the Cubs want to add him to the 40-man, there's Kroeger.

Kroeger is interesting. He was a big prospect for the Diamondbacks a few years ago, but then had 2 terrible years, but he's been absolutely raking since coming to the Cubs. I might actually like to see him get the call. He's a LH bat with a bunch of pop. Could be an interesting choice. I don't see it happening though.

With Marquis exiting so early today I think it's a virtual certainty that a pitcher will be called up for tomorrow's game (probably Petrick), so that's who would immediately replace Floyd on the roster if he goes on the DL. If not we've seen the end of the unnecessary third catcher.
