Fred Mitchell[/url]"]On the night Sosa's bat exploded for all to see, officials from Major League Baseball notified the Cubs organization during the game that they had one hour to get rid of any other corked bats of Sosa's in the team's clubhouse before they came down to inspect his arsenal of bats. More than 70 marked corked bats then were extricated quickly by Cubs personnel from the clubhouse, about a third of them belonging to other players.

Eh, this was posted somewhere else.

IBL?

I looked back pages in "Baseball Discussions" for any relevant thread title until the time the article was posted. Where else would it be? I suppose now I should expect 12 people with "IBL LOL " posts and then someone telling me I should have looked on page 8 of the "Mark Cuban" thread or page 53 of the "Sammy Update" thread?

So on page 2 of this forum and on page 35 of the "Sammy Update" thread. That's why a lot of information and conversation ends up hidden on this board. It's its own topic as far as I'm concerned and I'd only run across it if it had its own thread. It's like if one conversation goes off on a tangent then that tangent can never be discussed anywhere else. Oh well. Sorry, moderator, for not reading every page of every post in the last few days to find it.

It's heresay! If it was a big deal and important then it would have taken Fred Mitchell probably 5 minutes to get the Canary singing about the corking incident. Sammy got caught and anyone else who had a corked bat that night learned a valuable lesson. It cost Sammy more then just a suspension to me it was the start of his decline or better yet the sign that he wasn't the player I thought he was.

1) I agree with Wilk, theres no reason for this thread to be locked. Its not about Sammy. Its about "other corked bats belonging toother players." Secondly, IMHO, the IBL posts are condescending to the original poster. If it's a stupid thread it's fine, but Wilk s obviously just trying to bring us some new information.

2) If true, why the hell would it take five years for this to come out?? Maybe because most of the players in reference are no longer with the Cubs?

I've never been so assaulted in my life for typing 3 letters.

Condescending? That's ridiculous. I meant no such insults. Others post IBL and everyone celebrates. I do it and get a nuclear bomb dropped on me.

The post was a re-post of something already discussed in another thread. That's all I was saying.

why is this information becoming known almost five years later?

the real question is "why would sammy have about 50 corked bats?"

He takes lots of batting practice.
