One major league executive said there’s “a pretty good chance” Bobby Abreu will attract interest from a National League team this month, assuming the Yankees are willing to pay a significant portion of the $10 million he’s still owed.

 

If he came at reasonable cost in talent, I think he'd be terrific. He's having a down year, so the Yankees may sell low. His contract isn't good at all, but it's still an interesting possibility.

*Watches the Yankees every day because he lives in NY* No, they don't really need a DH because Damon has been DHing since he has come back. He isn't healthy enough to play CF, and opening a spot in the outfield for Melky seems to give Torre a hard one, because he loves Melky for whatever reason.

 

For the rest of the year in all likely hood, its going to be Damon at DH and Melky in Center.

Abreu has been on a downward slide for a couple years now, and his numbers this year aren't any better (probably worse) than what Murton could put up for us right now. His .723 OPS isn't looking all that great, especially with his pricetag ($15 million this year, last year of his contract).

I'd love to see the Cubs work out a deal for Abreu even though the Cubs would have to part with young pitching. If Demp wants to start, and given Marmol's dominance thus far I'd definitely try a package including Marshall and see if the Yanks bite.

First of all, Bobby Abreu has RUINED my fantasy team this year. Him and the Yankees have absolutely lost it this year. ABREU SUCKS!!! I don't want him to ruin the Cubs either.
