by the way, i could be convinced to become a seller if people want to start making offers.

You're in the playoffs as of right now!

Which is exactly why I traded Webb to you rather than him; I can't help him get even better since I'm trying to overtake him. :D

well, if your goal is to win it all, making tim better isn't helping your cause either.

I like that you're assuming I'll be coming out of the West. :D

My first goal is to make the playoffs, since I haven't come within sniffing distance in previous years. If I were two-time defending champions I wouldn't be satisfied with just making the playoffs, but being among the bottom three teams in the league in both previous seasons results in a different perspective and expectations.

yeah, but raw is clearly better than me and HBC has added penny and hawpe essentially w/o losing anything that hurts his team. and i haven't had any luck trading...everyone that's wanted to trade w/ me has asked for a player that, if i traded, would just open up another hole in my lineup.

i'm not holding a fire sale or anything, i'm just saying i'm open for offers. i realize that my team isn't as good as it's been the past two years. of course, i could just stand pat and hope that andruw and the drews get their act together...

You don't have your normal store of tradeable assets as you've had in the past couple years. Your mid-season trades have been what has given you the ammunition to beat me at the end the past couple years.

I'm thinking I'm putting myself into a similar position for next year, though. I'm wondering if I've traded too much this time around in order to build the best team possible for 2007.

I really like my team at this point, though. :)

come on, that sounds like jim hendry talking!

Unlike Hendry, though, I'm willing to admit it when I make a poor trade (case in point: Liriano for Wickman) and move on.

And also, unlike Hendry, I'm still assured of being in control of my team next year. :D

What.....I am still in the lead???????

Of course it helps to have Mauer hitting this way. It also helps to have NC's pitchers outdueling mine in suckiness.

I'm getting a big week from Wells, but it's not enough. I've used up all my pitching starts for the week and I believe you have a couple remaining; looks like my first two-game losing streak since the first two weeks of the season. :(

Just checking if I have a chance tomorrow or not. I kind of am rooting at this point to lose. I've never had a top 5 draft pick, and if I'm there, I would love to secure the #1 spot. That is, without cheating and dumping points. However, I love my team for the next 2 years.

Hopefully not going with Danks or Francis and only 6 starters works out for me. CC really screwed the pooch this week (granted Garland was even worse).

leading the majors in ks helps.

Looks like there will be a tight race for the play-off spots in the west. Just about everyone is 6-7 or 7-6.

:pr: Everyone except Juan of course :pl:

I hate geography. I'll be 8-6 after this week, which will be 4th in the East. However, If I were in the West with the same record I'd be no worse than tied for second.

I need to move to California.

Traded Eric Byrnes to NCCF for Bob Wickman and James Loney and so I had to make some moves in my lineup - added Wickman to my pen, moved Teahen to the OF to replace Byrnes and then put Beltre in my starting lineup.

You must have just beat the deadline to make changes in time for today's game. As soon as I got notification of your acceptance I went to change my lineup and it was too late to take effect today. No real problem, though; I'm beyond hope this week anyway.

Well, I'm really lucky then - I'm down 15 and need every point I can get today.

That's close enough to still have a chance. I'm down by 56, which is another story altogether (especially with no pitching starts remaining).

Actually, I think you were changing your future lineup, not today's. It still shows Byrnes in your lineup for today. It didn't make sense to me when I realized that, if you'd changed your lineup for today, that would have meant that Wickman would have simultaneously been on both of our rosters.

Not a big deal since I was going to lose anyway, but I think Quakers had 9 starts this week (2 each from Buherle, Lowe, Silva, and Millwood, and 1 from Contreras). He probably just forgot to deactivated his scheduled starters for today. Since Silva had another negative point outing the combined result of the two excess starts was only about 10 points, nowhere near enough to make the difference.

WTF!!!!!! Why are the Fish resting Cabrera before the AS break? And LoDuca doesn't play either.

I'm down by 15 or so, I have Maddux and Giles tonight and Juan has McCann batting and Bell in relief.

BTW, I give up a king's ransom for Brad Penny to improve my pitching and bench Harang to pitch Penny. Harang over 28 pts today. Penny -8.

Gotta love those apples!
